About

I've been posting my previous trip reports and photographs to various motorcycle/travel forums, Facebook, sending pictures to others via email,  and have decided to create this blog for family, friends, and anyone else with similar interests or the poor sap with no cable and needs something to do.   Basically, a consolidation of sorts to eliminate numerous postings, emails on my part.  In my opinion, there is nothing more enjoyable when traveling than to have no set destination, plans and the freedom to go when and wherever you wish. This type of travel isn't for everyone as some like to fight the hoards of people at airports, sit in a flying tube with hundreds of others, have reservations for every waking minute, visit tourist traps while staying in some fancy hotel, etc., etc.. I personally would just as soon take an ass whipping rather than travel like this. Load up either on my motorcycle or in my pop-up camper and simply....go. The "where to" will work its way out as the trip unfolds. God forbid a reservation is made or an itinerary is in place. Takes all the adventure out of it. Having to be somewhere with a set date and detailed reservations is a major commitment in my book. More like....ensure I have gas (truck type), maps, the dog, some sardines, beer funds and the camera. That about covers it, time to go...with Nowhere to Be. The more remote and off the beaten track all the better. I'll be posting lots of pics and some ramblings about my travels here.  If you want to come along submit your e-mail and you'll receive update notifications.  Comments, good or bad, and suggestions on must places to see are welcome.  If you've got a sweet lot or driveway that I can park the camper for free and you don't mind Petey leaving a steamer in the yard let me know about that as well.  Don't worry, I'll pick up the steamer .......if we think you're looking!

Traveling is hard.  Anyone who says different isn't a traveler; they are a tourist.  A travelers life and their trip are one in the same, living life while traveling rather than taking a vacation from their life. - unknown

  3. Park - Ran across your travel updates on Expedition Portal and spent the better part of a Sunday afternoon catching up on your, and Petey's, adventures. I hope it is ok but when I finally get my opportunity in 2 years to road trip up to Alaska I am going to copy a large portion of your routes. I look forward to seeing and reading about more of your and Petey's travels. Cheers, JS.

    1. Jeremy....you won't regret the trip up north. It's an amazing place. Ensure you give yourself plenty of time as it's a vast area to cover. Petey and I will be headed south soon so more posts are in the future.

  4. Amazing pictures! I saw something from you on Expedition Portal related to a Baja trip, and that led me to your blog. Though I'm currently planning to head south, your photos are making me think a trip north should be in my plans before long! Thanks!

    1. Adventourous Wench.....Petey and I headed south soon as well. Looks like Baja is calling us again although this time we are planning on going with a few others. As I usually travel solo this will be something different for us. If you haven't been up north before put it on your bucket list. So much wilderness and great areas to explore. You can't help but have a great time!

  5. Thanks Park for your blog. I'm sure writing a blog takes time and effort. My wife and I recently purchased a Tacoma and a pop-up camper, and we have taken several small trips (3 or 4 days) around Ca., Nev., and Oregon. We love it. I have set out on several excursions on my own, I just returned from the Alvord Desert/Joseph trip. Amazing country! I'm looking at Great Basin area of Nevada for my next travel. Thank you, again, Mike

  6. Mike....Great Basin is a great place to explore. The Great Basin National Park area is a must do. Caves, great hiking and photography. Getting cold there this time of the year but a great spring trip. Thanks for the compliment on the blog and enjoy that Tacoma with camper. Mine has been great and I've really enjoyed roaming around with it.
